BOSTON, MA -- The Bryant University women's swimming and diving team competed against Boston University Saturday at the FitRec Competition Pool. The Black & Gold secured a close win of 151-149, to close out their regular season, marking their first program victory against Boston University since becoming a Division I institution.
To add to the victory, Bryant sets another record-breaking performance as
Amanda Witkus takes down her previous mark in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 1:58.49.
Notes and Notables:
- In the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay, Bryant took first place at 1:43.58 (Steen, Pistrin, Tonelli-Smith, Figueroa).
- Makayla Pearce grabbed another first-place finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a 10:10.94, swimming over 20 seconds faster than her last 1000 Free against Marist. Anna Jackson took third with a 10:27.40.
- In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Jill Carline secured first place with a 1:53.35, and Jocie Niemcyk took third with a 1:53.60.
- Jacqui Fox finished second in the 100-yard Backstroke with a 57.23.
- In the 100 100-yard breaststroke, Elayna Pistrin placed first with a 1:04.91, while Jocie Niemcyk took third with a 1:05.98.
- In the 200 Yard Butterfly, Amanda Witkus claimed first place with a 1:58.49, followed by Ruby Tonelli-Smith's 2:00.30. Witkus broke the 200 Fly record for the third time this season.
- Marcella Figueroa grabbed another first-place finish in the 50-yard Freestyle with a 23.88.
- In the 3-meter Dive, Megan Beasley scored 268.20 for third place.
- In the 200 Yard Backstroke, Jacqui Fox placed second with a 2:03.66.
- Elayna Pistrin secured first place in the 200 Breaststroke with a 2:20.29, while Alice Stenbeck took third with a 2:21.82.
- Makayla Pearce notched another first-place finish in the long-distance events, swimming a 4:59.69 in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
- In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Tonelli-Smith and Witkus went one-two with times of 54.84 and 55.16, respectively. Sofia Doersch rallied to third with a 57.09.
- In the 1-Meter Dive, Megan Beasley claimed third with a score of 278.40.
- Amanda Witkus finished second in the 400-yard IM at 4:23.63.
- Bryant closed out the meet, placing second in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay at 3:28.85 (Shuster, Archambeault, Niemcyk, Figueroa).
