SMITHFIELD, R.I. — The Bryant University men's swimming and diving team opened its home slate with several strong performances against Binghamton, highlighted by a pool record in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Coach Billy's Comments on the Win:
"Overall, a great performance," Coach Billy said.
"On the men's side we showed a lot of grit and took the defending America east champions down to the last relay. A lot of men stepped up the today battled to the end. Looking forward to keeping the momentum going for next week as our women go against Stony Brook and our men go against another America East team; NJIT."
The Bulldogs' 200 free relay team of
James Misto,
Nick Andrews,
Arthur Newton, and
Calix Hammett, swimming in lane three, shattered the previous facility mark with a winning time of 1:23.32, setting a new pool record.
Bryant also earned multiple event victories, including Tim Andrews in the 100-yard butterfly (49.41),
Arthur Newton in the 100-yard freestyle (46.04), and
Aidan Trenery in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.01).
On the boards,
Christopher Buonocore led the way with a first-place finish in the three-meter dive (299.93).
Despite several strong swims, Bryant narrowly fell in the overall team score, 184–169.
