BOSTON -- Bryant men's basketball freshman Ty Tabales was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday morning.

The honor comes after Tabales averaged 12.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.0 apg and 2.0 spg in a 1-1 week for the Black and Gold. It is the first rookie of the week honor for the Bulldogs as members of the America East.

Tabales opened the week with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting in 19 minutes vs Mercy before tying a season high with 15 points in a narrow loss at Harvard. Against the Crimson, Tabales sank five threes, becoming the first freshman since Charles Pride in 2019 to accomplish the feat. He also added a season-high six assists and four steals.

Entering the week, Tabales has scored in double figures in each of the last three games, averaging 11.6 ppg in the process. He currently ranks third on the team with 8.0 ppg and is averaging a team-best 2.5 apg.

Bryant returns to the Chace Athletic Center on Tuesday night to host Stonehill. Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.
