THREE BULLDOGS SELECTED IN 2026 MLS SUPERDRAFT

NEW YORK -  Abdel Talabi, Mamadi Jiana and Jaime Amaro were selected in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday afternoon. This afternoon marks the first time in history that any Bulldogs have been selected in an MLS draft.

Abdel Talabi joined Bryant in 2021, coming from Brewster, Mass. Talabi pushed strong and worked at a high level, becoming the anchor of a defense that led the nation in shutout percentage and goals against average in 2023. In 2023, Talabi earned an All-America East Second Team and America East Defensive Player of the Week honors, leading the squad to an America East Championship win.

In 2024, Abdel Talabi started all 19 games for the Black and Gold and anchored the Bulldogs' defensive back line in the America East Championship. In 2025, Talabi was the captain of the defense that only allowed eight goals during the regular season. Talabi recorded three goals and two assists this season and started every game for the Bulldogs. Talabi earned First Team All-ECAC, First Team All-America East and Second Team All-Northeast Region honors.

Mamadi Jiana transferred to Bryant from UAlbany ahead of the 2025 season. Jiana earned Second Team All-Northeast Region honors. The forward started 20 games and appeared in 21 games for the Black and Gold this season, making his presence known on the field for his speed and timing. Jiana attempted the most shots in the America East (30) and recorded the second-most shots on goal in the conference (25). Jiana recorded the third most goals (7) and points (18) in the America East.

Jaime Amaro joined Bryant in 2025 as a sophomore from Madrid, Spain. Amaro earned Third Team All-American, First Team All-ECAC and First Team All-America East honors. Additionally, Amaro was the first Bulldog to win America East Striker of the Year honors. The Spanish striker finished the regular season as the America East leader in goals (10), assists (7), points (27) and game-winning goals (4). Amaro's seven assists tied the school record for most assists in a season, a record set by Vicente Valor Martinez in 2023. Amaro had an eight-game stretch where he averaged a goal per game. That included a stretch in which he scored in four consecutive games against UMass Lowell, UMBC, UAlbany and Brown.
