BOSTON -- Bryant men's basketball freshman
Ty Tabales was named the America East Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week on Monday.
Tabales earns the honor after averaging 18.5 ppg and 4.0 apg in a 1-1 week for the Black and Gold. He opened the week with an 18-point, 7-assist performance in a win over Stonehill. Tabales became just the fifth different Bryant freshmen to record 7+ assists in a game in DI program history. He followed that up with a season-high 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting at Brown on Friday.
Tabales has scored in double figures in each of the last five games and is averaging 14.5 ppg during the stretch. On the year, he's up to 10.1 ppg and is 15-of-38 (39.4 percent) from three over his last five.
Bryant faces a paif of opponents from the MAAC this week, heading to Iona on Wednesday before hosting Marist on Saturday (Dec. 13) at 4:00 p.m.Â
