Bulldogs drop road game to NJIT on Thursday

NEWARK, N.J. – The Bryant University women's basketball team fell to NJIT 64-53 in New Jersey on Thursday night.
 
Nia Scott hauled in 13 boards, and Mia Mancini led all Bulldog scorers with 15 points.

How it Happened
  • NJIT jumped to a 13-7 lead in the game's first six minutes. Olivia Fernandez hit a three, while Breezie Williams and Nia Scott recorded buckets.
  • The Bulldogs earned a slight 4-3 edge to close the quarter, creating a 16-11 deficit. Ali Brigham and Mancini scored for the Black and Gold.
  • It was another close first five minutes of the second quarter as Bryant tallied an 8-7 edge (23-19). Brigham had four, Maranda Nyborg registered two, and Breezie hit a floater.
  • The Highlanders closed the half on an 11-8 scoring run, creating a seven-point deficit for the Bulldogs at the half (34-27). Nyborg led the way with four points.
  • The Black and Gold held NJIT to six points in the first five minutes of the second half while recording eight, cutting the Highlanders' lead to five (40-35). Mancini hit a three during the run.
  • Both defenses stood strong to close out the third quarter, with NJIT posting four to the Black and Golds three (44-38).
  • The Bulldogs cut it to three (47-44) with seven minutes remaining off of a steal and score from Breezie. NJIT then hit back-to-back threes, forcing a Bryant timeout (53-44) with five and a half remaining in the game.
