Bryant wins both games against Coppin State and Towson on Saturday

TOWSON, MD. – The Bryant University softball team earned two victories at the Demarini Clash defeating Coppin State and Towson by scores of 5-1 and 10-6.

Gracie Bishop had two hits and three RBI in the first victory. Amira Rainer tallied two hits and an RBI, and Bryce Clendenin posted two hits.

Faith Valenziela and Clendenin recorded two hits and two RBI in the win against Towson.

  • The Bulldogs held the Eagles scoreless through six innings.
How it Happened (GM1)
  • In the bottom of the first, Valenzuela singled and advanced to second on a passed ball. Rohwer then hit an RBI-single (1-0).
  • Amira Rainer hit a lead-off single and then stole second, scoring on a Coppin State throwing error at the bottom of the fourth (2-0).
  • Clendenin hit a single with one out, followed by another by Sam Rohwer. Bishop then hit a double to right, clearing the bases at the bottom of the fifth (4-0). Rainer hit an RBI-single on the next at-bat for the third run in the inning (5-0).
  • Coppin State tallied a run in the top of the seventh on a single (5-1).

  • Rohwer hit an RBI-single in the top of the third (2-0). Bishop hit a single during the next at-bat, and Rainer hit an RBI-single (3-0).
  • Towson hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third (3-2).
  • Bryant then scored three runs in the top of the fourth courtesy of Valenzuela and Clendenin RBI-singles (6-2).
  • The Tigers scored a run with an RBI-single in the bottom of the fourth (6-3).
  • Makenna Coleman hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth, after Jaiden McKenna pinch ran for McKenzie McAloon and stole second and third base (7-3).
  • In the bottom of the fifth, Towson cut the Bulldogs' lead to two with two RBI-singles (7-5).
  • The Tigers scored a sixth run on a Bryant fielding error in the bottom of the sixth (7-6).
