Medlock homers in 7-1 loss at URI

Box Score KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of Rhode Island defeated the Bryant baseball team 7-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Bill Beck Field.
 
The Bulldogs fall to 5-8-1 overall with the loss. Bryant will host Northeastern on Wednesday afternoon at Conaty Park.
 
Eliot Medlock had two hits, including his first career home run.

  • URI plated two runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.
How it Happened
  • A leadoff walk and a throwing error on a stolen base attempt gave the Rams a runner at third quickly. A ground out to the pitcher plated the first run and back-to-back two-out doubles made it 2-0.
  • The Rams extended their lead with two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth. In the fourth, the Rams loaded the bases with one out and Trey Deitelbaum was able to get a strikeout for the second out. He then was ahead 0-2 but a wild pitch allowed a run to score. The 1-2 pitch was then hit through the right side to make it 4-0.
  • In the fifth, a home run started the scoring. URI then executed a double steal to score a run and a double made it 7-0.
  • Medlock provided Bryant's lone run of the game with an opposite field home run in the eighth.

  • Bryant was limited to just four hits in the game.
  • Jackson Vanesko started and allowed four runs (two earned) on three hits over 3.1 innings. He walked two and struck out two.
  • Deitelbaum allowed two runs on two hits in 1.1 innings of relief.
