Bryant wins America East Regular Season Championship Tuesday night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant men's basketball team used a 29-0 run to race past New Hampshire and claim its first America East Regular Season Championship in emphatic fashion, 90-56, on Tuesday night at the Chace Athletic Center.
 
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 20-11 overall and 14-2 in America East play. Bryant claims the America East Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed and home court advantage in the 2025 Jersey Mike's America East Men's Basketball Playoffs. The Bulldogs will host No. 8 seed UMBC on Saturday, March 8 in the quarterfinals Tip is set for 4:00 p.m.
 
Keyshawn Mitchell led the Black and Gold with a double-double of 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. He added a career-high five blocks. Rafael Pinzon added 17 points, Barry Evans had 14 and Kvonn Cramer posted 13 to lead the Bulldogs.

How it Happened
  • Pinzon got the scoring going with a three from the top but the Wildcats held the run of the play for the opening 14 minutes.
  • Dylan Saunders' three with 14:41 left made it 15-7.
  • The Bulldogs would cut the deficit to three, 14-17, before the Wildcats used a 9-2 run to take a 26-16 lead with 8:10 to go.
  • Bryant would outscore the Wildcats 19-5 the rest of the way. Mitchell started the run with four-straight points and then Evans took over.
  • Evans finished over his defender for his first points of the night at the 4:26 mark and followed with a transition three to make it 27-31.
  • A driving layup from Timberlake would tie the game at 31-31 and Evans would give the Black and Gold the lead with a bucket in transition at the 1:47 mark.
  • Pinzon's layup with 30 seconds left gave the Bulldogs a 35-31 lead at the break.
  • Bryant upped the energy to start the second half, building a 14-point lead (49-35) six minutes into the half.
  • UNH made it a two-point game, 37-35, but the Bulldogs rattled off the next 29 points. Mitchell started the run with a wing three and Evans followed with a corner three.
  • Cramer then finished an unconventional alley-oop from Evans as he put back an errant pass with a one-handed slam. The putback sent the Chace into a frenzy and forced a UNH timeout.
  • The Bulldogs went 9-of-18 from the field and held the Wildcats 0-of-14 from the field during the 29-0 run.
  • Bryant outcored the Wildcats, 55-25, in the second half to close out the win.
