THE SERIES
- Bryant leads the all-time series with UAlbany, 5-4. The Bulldogs won each of the first five meetings as America East foes before the Great Danes earned a 68-63 victory on Feb. 6.
- Bryant defeated UAlbany, 89-79, on Jan. 16 in Albany. Rafael Pinzon and Earl Timberlake combined for 43 points in the victory.
- In Smithfield, Bryant blocked a program record 15 shots but the Great Danes built a 41-28 halftime lead and held off the Bulldogs late. Byron Joshua had 22 points to lead UAlbany.
JERSEY MIKE'S AMERICA EAST MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS
- Each of the top four seeds won in the quarterfinals on Saturday, March 8. No. 1 Bryant defeated No. 8 UMBC, No. 2 Vermont knocked off No. 7 UNH, No. 3 Maine defeated No. 6 UML and No. 4 UAlbany held on to defeat No. 5 Binghamton.
- Bryant will host UAlbany and Vermont will host Maine in the America East Semifinals.
- The winners of Tuesday's semifinals will meet in the America East Championship game on Saturday, March 15. Tip is set for 11:00 a.m.
BRYANT HOLDS OFF UMBC IN QUARTERFINALS
- Rafael Pinzon and Earl Timberlake scored 19 of Bryant's final 22 points as the Bulldogs defeated UMBC, 85-74, in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
- Pinzon scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half, while Timberlake posted 16 of his 18 in the final 20 minutes.
BRYANT POSTSEASON HISTORY
- Bryant has qualified for the a conference tournament for the 11th time and is 7-9 overall. The Bulldogs have advanced to the semifinals in four of the last five conference tournaments and have reached the semis five times in DI program history (2014, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025).
- The Bulldogs have reached the championship game twice (2020-21 and 2021-22). Bryant won its only conference title (Northeast Conference) in 2021-22.
- This will mark the second time (2021-22) that the Black and Gold have been the No. 1 seed.
- Bryant is 7-3 at home in the postseason.
BACK-TO-BACK 20-WIN SEASONS
- With Tuesday's win over New Hampshire in the regular season finale, the Bulldogs have now won 20+ games in back-to-back seasons and three times in the last four years.
- It marks the first time in DI program history they've won 20+ games in back-to-back years and the first time in program history since the Black and Gold won 20+ in four-straight years from 2003-07.
- Bryant's 21 victories this year are the second-most in a single season in DI program history.
- Head coach Phil Martelli Jr.'s 41 victories in the last two seasons are the most by a Bryant head coach in the first two seasons in school history.
FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW
- Earl Timberlake closed out a historic regular season as the only player in America East history, and just the second in NCAA history, to record 15.0+ ppg, 8.0+ rpg, 4.5+ apg and 1.5+ bpg in a single season (per Sports Reference). He was named the America East Player of the Year and followed that up with 18 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in the quarterfinals.
- Rafael Pinzon led Bryant with 22 points in the quarterfinals against UMBC. He is now averaging 27.0 ppg in three America East Playoffs games dating back to last year.
- Kvonn Cramer recorded his first double-double as a Bulldog in the quarterfinals, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds off the bench. It marked his first double-double since November of 2021 when he was at Hofstra.
- Connor Withers gives the Black and Gold a wealth of experience and will appear in his 147th game on Tuesday. He posted 12 points eight rebounds and four steals in the quarterfinals. Withers' career numbers includes 1,228 points, 725 rebounds, 310 assists, 167 blocks and 185 steals. He joins Vermont's Marques Blakely as the only two players in America East history to record those numbers. Withers is just one of 11 players in NCAA history to put up those numbers.
- Barry Evans posted his 26th (in 30 games) double-digit scoring effort of the year vs UMBC. He was named the America East Newcomer of the Year and is averaging 13.1 ppg and 6.9 rpg.
