Bryant Punches Ticket to America East Playoffs in Victory Over UVM

BURLINGTON, VT– Powered by a dominant performance from Emily DeGeorge who tallied five goals and two assists, Bryant women's lacrosse earned a crucial 16-14 victory over the Vermont Catamounts on Saturday afternoon.

Bryant's victory earns them a berth into the America East playoffs along with UMBC and Umass Lowell. Bryant currently sits at the two seed and can claim a share of the regular season title and the No. 1 seed with a victory over the River Hawks next Saturday (Apr. 26) at Beirne Stadium.

How It Happened

First Quarter
Bryant came out strong, scoring four of the game's first five goals to set the pace. Emily did George and Elise Larson, each from the back of the net, while Riley O'Mara opened the scoring just over a minute in. Isabel Katter added two goals in the frame, including one in the final second helping the Bulldogs take a 5-3 lead into the second quarter.

Second Quarter
Bryant says season-high of seven goals in a single quarter in the second, leaving it as their highest scoring frame of the day. Emily DeGeorge gathered a hat trick before half time. To end the half, Amelia Piercy and Lily Auger each placed themselves on the scoreboard, well, Emily DeGeorge and Izzie Katter connected to put the Bulldogs up 12-7 at the half.

Third Quarter
In a low scoring quarter, Vermont tallied three of the four goals in the frame. Bryant's single goal came from Riley O'Mara who clutched her second of the day, and the Bulldogs impediments entered into the fourth with 13-10.

Fourth Quarter
Bryant held off a late surge from Vermont as Ashling, Marshall and Gabriella Constant each added goals to extend the Bryant lead. Emily DeGeorge capped her five goal day with her final score midway through the quarter on a crease roll into the net. Though Vermont purchased two goals within the closing minutes to close the gap, the effort was not enough as the Bulldogs held strong to secure the 16-14 win as the clock struck zero.
