Key Moments
- White induced an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play to get the Bulldogs out of a jam in the seventh inning.
How it Happened
- NJIT and Bryant both scored runs without the benefit of a hit in the first. For NJIT, a throwing error with two outs allowed a run to score. Robbins buckled down, though, getting a strikeout to strand runners on 2nd and 3rd.
- In the bottom of the first, Zyons walked and advanced to third on a fielding error. D'Amico then hit a ground ball to short and Wyers was able to break up the double play to allow a run to score.
- NJIT nearly took the lead in the top of the second as Ray Ortiz sent a drive down the left field line. D'Amato raced to the line and made a diving catch, saving at least two runs.
- Bryant then plated two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead. Bradyn Durand doubled to start the inning and moved to third as Matt D'Amato beat a bunt single. Charlie Saul then laid down a perfect safety squeeze to score Durand. A wild pitch on a strikeout extended the inning with two outs and Wyers was HBP with the bases loaded to make it 3-1.
- The Black and Gold extended their lead to 4-1 in the fourth. Saul beat out a slow roller to third, advanced to second on a sac bunt and came around to score on single to right from Zyons.
- NJIT threatened in the seventh as it put two runners on with one out against reliever Owen Birchard. Landon White was summoned from the bullpen with a 2-0 count on the batter and eventually hit him to load the bases. White recovered, inducing a soft ground ball back to the mound that he flipped home to start an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play.
- White would go on to record the eight outs of the game, striking out two in the ninth to close it out.
