Coach Ross announces coaching changes for 2026 season

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head men's lacrosse coach Brad Ross has announced coaching staff updates ahead of the 2026 season. Zach Goodrich has been promoted to Defensive Coordinator, Connor McMahon has been elevated to Offensive Coordinator, and Patrick Groschan joins the staff as an assistant coach.

"I am thrilled to elevate both Zach and Connor to coordinator positions," said Coach Ross. "They have proven to be tireless workers, elite strategists, and strong relationship builders. Our offensive and defensive units will be driven to new heights under their leadership"

Goodrich enters his third season with the Bulldogs in 2026. Over the past two years as an assistant coach, he has played a key role in the development of Bryant's defensive unit and faceoff specialists. His efforts helped the Bulldogs excel in several defensive categories during the 2025 season, contributing to one of the program's most complete efforts on that side of the field.

McMahon returned to Smithfield in 2025 after spending the previous season as an assistant coach at Fairfield. This past year, he worked side by side with Coach Ross on the offensive side of the ball.

Before beginning his coaching career, McMahon played at Bryant during his graduate season in 2023, helping lead the Bulldogs to an America East Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Groschan begins his first season with the Black and Gold this fall after spending the past three years as an assistant coach at Kenyon College. While with the Owls, he served as both the Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator, helping guide the program to multiple strong seasons at the Division III level.

"I am excited to announce Patrick Groschan as our new assistant coach," said Coach Ross. "During the interview process, Patrick displayed professionalism, work ethic, and extensive lacrosse knowledge. Patrick will be a terrific addition to our coaching staff. He will coach our goaltending unit as well as assist Coach Goodrich with our defense."

Prior to his tenure at Kenyon, Groschan was an assistant coach at Centre College, where he gained valuable experience coaching the defense, working with goalkeepers, and recruiting student-athletes. His coaching background also includes roles at Bishop McDevitt High School (2019–21), North Central University (2017–18), and his alma mater, Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland (2015–17).

A native of the Baltimore area, Groschan played collegiate lacrosse at Eastern University in Philadelphia. As the team's starting goalkeeper, he earned First Team All-Conference honors from the Middle Atlantic Conference in 2014, helping the Eagles win the MAC title and earn an NCAA Tournament berth. He was part of three MAC championship teams during his career at Eastern.
