BRYANTS DEFENSE LIFTS THE BULLDOGS PAST UNH IN AE OPENER

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Maranda Nyborg recorded her first career double-double (12 points, ten rebounds) in the Bryant University women's basketball team's 45-31 home victory against New Hampshire in the America East opener.
 
The Black and Gold held the Wildcats to 31 points, the lowest for an opponent in DI program history, and 0% shooting from the field in the fourth quarter, the second time this season Bryant has achieved this against an opponent.

How it Happened
  • The first five minutes were a close affair, with the Bulldogs earning a 5-4 lead. Martina Boba nailed a three-pointer before the media timeout to gain the lead.
  • The Black and Gold tallied six points, and UNH countered with four, resulting in an 11-8 lead after the first quarter for Bryant.
  • The Wildcats would counter with a 7-2 run to earn a 15-13 lead at the second quarter media timeout. Maranda Nyborg got the bucket for Bryant, her second of the game.
  • The defenses stood firm, with the Black and Gold earning an 8-4 edge, giving the Bulldogs a 21-19 lead at the half. Izzy Adams knocked down a corner three-pointer in the final minute, earning the lead.
  • Both defenses continued to battle with both teams scoring seven (28-26), Adams nailed her second from deep on the assist from Mancini off of a rebound.
