DEGEORGE, CONSTANT PACE BRYANT IN 15-6 WIN OVER RHODE ISLAND

HANOVER, N.H. – Emily DeGeorge and Gabriella Constant combined for 13 points to lead the Bryant women's lacrosse team to a 15-6 victory over in-state rival Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium.

With the win, Bryant evens its record at 2-2 on the year. The Bulldogs return to the field next Wednesday (Feb. 25) as they start a three-game road trip at Stonehill.


DeGeorge finished the game with five goals and two assists, while Constant recorded four goals and a pair of helpers. It was part of a Bryant attack that also received multiple points from Riley O'Mara (2g), Malin-Skye Turnquist (2g) and Sophia Fruci (2a). Sierra Donis posted two saves between the pipes.
 
Kaelynn O'Brien and Jessica Tosone did the rest as they combined for nine ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and three draw controls.

  • After URI cut Bryant's lead to one in the second quarter, the Bulldogs scored four times in the final nine minutes to take an 8-4 lead to the break.
How it Happened
  • DeGeorge and O'Mara got Bryant in front quickly, scoring in the first two minutes.
  • Kate Cummins got URI on the board but Turnquist answered just 26 seconds later with her first of the game.
  • Trailing 4-1, Caralie Basuel and Cumins scored to cut Bryant's lead to 4-3 just over a minute into the second quarter.
  • Turnquist's goal with 9:13 remaining started a 6-1 run for the Bulldogs that spanned the halftime break. DeGeorge followed with a man-up goal and then answered Cumins' third of the game with her own hat trick at the 3:06 mark.
  • Rylee Slate scored with 56 seconds left in the half and goals from Constant and O'Mara made it 10-4 with 3:47 left in the third quarter.
  • The Rams would score the next two but the Black and Gold responded with the final five goals to close out the victory. Constant and DeGeorge each potted a pair, while Emma Wymes added a goal of her own.
