BULLDOGS SPLIT AMERICA EAST OPENER AGAINST UALBANY ON SATURDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Maddy Wachter threw her sixth complete game of the season as the Bryant University softball team defeated UAlbany 6-3 in the first game of the doubleheader at Conaty Park.
 
Arriana Williams, Bryce Clendenin, and Carley Genzer all had two hits in the game one victory.
 
The Bulldogs fell 9-3 in the second game. Alana Garcia had a career-high three RBI in the loss.

  • UAlbany cut the lead to one (4-3) but the Bulldogs responded with two runs.
How it Happened (GM1)
  • Arriana Williams began the bottom of the first with a leadoff single, then got to second on an error. Teagan Thompson and Alana Garcia then hit back-to-back RBI (2-0). Jadyn Jenks would then bring home two runs on a line drive down the third base line (4-0).
  • The Great Danes hit an RBI single in the top of the second inning (4-1).
  • UAlbany scored a run on a RBI single up the middle in the top of the third (4-2).
  • In the top of the fourth, the Great Danes knocked a solo home run (4-3).
  • Arlisenny Rodriguez hit a triple and then Laniya Lewis reached on a bunt. Lewis then stole second and the Great Danes committed an error bringing home a run (5-3). Williams then ripped a line drive up the middle, scoring a run (6-3), in the bottom of the fourth.

  • In the top of the sixth, UAlbany scored two on a double (7-3).
