Coaching Accolades

  • Produced 2025 America East Rookie of the Year.
  • Has coached seven all-conference selections in three years.
  • Five of six weekend starters named to all-conference team in last two seasons.
  • Team has led the league in strikeouts per nine and strikeout-to-walk ratio in two of the last three seasons.
  • Pitching staff tied the America East single season record with 475 strikeouts in 2025.

In 2025, Cronin's pitching staff tied the America East single-season record with 475 strikeouts, nearly 100 more than the next closest America East school. Bryant led the league in ERA (4.74, 43rd nationally), hits allowed per nine, K:BB ratio (2.03), K/9 (8.9) and WHIP (1.45). The Bulldogs held opponents to a .249 average and a .741 OPS, both down nearly 10 points from the 2024 season. Cronin worked his magic with the weekend rotation for the second-straight year, has the Bulldogs replaced two of their three starters. Freshman Michael Belcher became the Friday night starter halfway through the year and was named America East Rookie of the Year, the first pitcher to win the award since 2019. Belcher was also named to the All-America East First Team, while transfer left-hander Clay Robbins and reliever Kyle Rizy earned second team honors. It was Cronin's work with his bullpen that was really special, as he developed a group that produced 29 of Bryant's 36 victories.

Cronin's second season saw the Bryant pitching staff take more strides and become a staff. Despite several injuries to key arms, Bryant ranked 86th nationally in ERA and 92 in hits allowed per nine innings. Cronin put together a completely new weekend rotation in 2024, with Austin Wainer stepping up to take over the Friday role. Under Cronin's watch, Wainer would go 7-3 and led the America East with 85.2 innings. Luke Delongchamp also shined in his first season after transferring from Boston College, posting a league-leading 2.76 ERA as Bryant's Saturday starter. Tyler Horvat, a DIII transfer from Washington & Jefferson, took over the Sunday role and 3.27 ERA in nine starts before suffering a season-ending injury. All three pitchers were named All-America East, with Wainer and Delongchamp taking first team honors.

Cronin's first season in 2023 saw the Bulldogs rank in the top 80 nationally in strikeouts per nine (9.0) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.08). Both numbers led the America East. Under Cronin, Bryant struck out 431 batters on the year. Under Cronin's watch, Coleman Picard, Brett Wichrowski and Austin Wainer all had breakout years. Picard made the transition from the bullpen to the starting rotation, earning National Pitcher of the Week honors after punching out 12 against No. 14 Virginia Tech. Wichrowski earned All-America East Second Team honors and Wainer became one of most reliable arms out of the bullpen. Bryant also had two pitchers drafted in the 2023 MLB Draft, with Picard going in the sixth round to Kansas City and Wichrowski going in the 13th round to Milwaukee.

Cronin joins the Bulldogs after spending the last three seasons as the pitching coach at Seton Hill University. He has a proven track record of winning, having been a part of three College World Series appearances at the Division II and III level over the last five years.

Cronin has become familiar with the postseason over the last five years, pitching Oswego State to the 2017 Division III College World Series before helping Heidelberg reach the DIII World Series in 2019 as the pitching coach. At Seton Hill, he helped the Griffs reach the 2021 Division II College World Series with the third-best ERA in all of DII.

In the last two seasons at Seton Hill, Cronin's staff has finished in the top 25 nationally in ERA, K:BB ratio, K/9 and WHIP. His 2021 staff finished third nationally in ERA (3.22), second in shutouts (7), second in K:BB ratio (4.30), seventh in K/9 (11.0) and second in WHIP (1.15).

He also earned All-ECAC and All-New York Region honors. Cronin was also named the 2014 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year.

What They're Saying About Tim Cronin

From the first day Tim stepped on our campus in August of 2019, he impacted our program on so many levels. He is a life-long learner and relationship cultivator. He poured himself into making our players and our program elite, and the results show that. Bryant is getting a great baseball guy, but more importantly, an exceptional man that will elevate everyone around him.

Marc Marizzaldi – Head Coach Seton Hill

Growing up in the same town, I watched Timmy excel on the diamond. He comes from a great family and embodies the characteristics that make me proud to be a Bryant Bulldog. I'm excited to watch him help the Dawgs bring home the hardware!"
