Bulldogs come up short against Saint Anselm 1-2

Bulldogs drop 2-1 match to Saint Anselm

Manchester, N.H. (Oct. 15, 2005) – Senior Kristin Tsonas (Hampton Falls, N.H.) led the Hawks to a 2-1 victory over visiting Bryant,in a non-conference matchup at the South Athletic Fields Thursday afternoon.

Junior Johanna Burrill (Quincy, Mass.) opened the scoring for the Hawks (1-13, 0-12 NE-10) in the 16th minute when she sent in a pass from senior Sarah Kane (Foxboro, Mass.).

Forward Maureen Burns (Derry, N.H.) evened the score for the Bulldogs (4-12, 3-10 NE-10) 10 minutes later when she found the pass from Michaela Dwyer (Buskirk, N.Y.) among many crowding the net.

Tsonas scored the game-winner in the 30th minute when she connected with a rebound from freshman Laura Urko (Attleboro, Mass.). Urko's shot had hit the post when Tsonas, who streaked up the right, dumped the shot into the right side of the net.

Bulldogs goalkeeper Marie Grant (Weston, Mass.) made two saves in the game, while Saint Anselm freshman goalkeeper Sarah Oakes (N. Yarmouth, Maine) made three to earn her first collegiate victory.
