Bryant has third consecutive shutout with 6-0
victory over Georgian Court
Smithfield, RI - The Bryant University
women's soccer team welcomed non-conference opponent Georgian
Court to Bulldog stadium on a sunny October 3rd
afternoon. The Bulldogs controlled the match from the start and
went on to defeat the Lions 6-0. Bryant improves to 9-3-2 overall
and remain 5-2-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Bryant controlled the tempo and flow throughout the entire game.
Sophomore Diane Pascale (Plymouth, MA) got the
Bulldogs on the board 10 minutes into the match on an assist from
fellow sophomore Tricia Spada (Dedham, MA).
Freshman Melanie Smith (Rehoboth, MA) gave Bryant
a 2-0 lead on a pass from senior Maddie Bergeron
(Westfield, MA). Smith would add another as she headed her fifth
goal of the season into the net on a beautiful cross from senior
Nikki Grandmaison (East Hampstead,
NH).
Bryant led 3-0 at the half and would tack on three more goals in
the second half. Freshman Amy Orzechowski
(Milford, CT) netted her second goal of the season on another
assist from Grandmaison. Senior midfielder Terri
Gidius (Coventry, CT) got into the scoring column when she
fired a shot off the crossbar which bounced into the back of the
net. Pascale would notch her second goal of the game and fourth of
the year 34 seconds later on an assist from junior defender
Sara Gyllstrom (Hudson, MA) to give the Bulldogs a
6-0 victory.
The Bulldogs dominated the contest with a 10-0 advantage on corner
kicks and did not allow Georgian Court to take one shot. Freshman
keeper Melissa Rauth (Lacey, NJ) saved 15 shots
for the Lions.
The Bulldogs will return to NE-10 Conference play on Wednesday,
October 5th hosting Saint Rose with a scheduled
game time start of 3:30pm.
