Bryant University back on
track with 1-0 victory over Saint Anselm
Smithfield, RI - The Bryant
University field hockey team welcomed the Hawks of Saint Anselm to
the Bryant Field Hockey Complex on Thursday, October 6. The
Bulldogs shut out the Hawks 1-0 to improve their overall record to
4-9 and conference record to 3-8. Bryant will visit #5 UMass Lowell
on Saturday with a 1:00pm start time.
The lone goal in the match was scored by Bryant University senior
forward Maureen Burns (Derry, NH). She first
ripped a shot that hit off the right post, but got her own rebound
and put the ball in the left corner of the goal. Burns now has four
goals to go along with five assists which is good for 13
points.
The Bulldogs would win the battle taking eight shots to Saint
Anselms three. Bryant also held an 8-4 advantage on penalty
corners.
Freshman goalkeeper Marie Grant (Weston, MA)
recorded her first career shutout for the Bulldogs in the 1-0 win.
Freshman Sarah Oakes (North Yarmouth, ME) played a solid match in
net for the Hawks saving six shots.
