Women's Lacrosse Wins Season Opener

CLAREMONT, CALIF. – The Bryant University women's lacrosse team opened their 2005 campaign in winning fashion beating Claremont McKenna 16-9 in game played yesterday in Claremont California.

The first half saw both teams start slowly as Bryant (1-0) took a 3-0 lead for the first twenty minutes before ending at a 5-4 Bryant halftime lead.

The second half saw the Bulldogs explode for 11 goals while only allowing Claremont five.

Sophomore Shaun Leddy (Seas Grit, NJ) scored a game-high four goals to go with two assists and fellow sophomore Amanda Gallant (Andover, Mass.) added four goals of her own. Freshman Caitlin Hansen (Spring Lake, NJ) chipped in with three goals in her first collegiate game.  

Bryant will return to action Wednesday, March 16, when they play Whitter College in game two of the California swing. Game time is set for 7:00PM.
