Softball Takes Two from Saint Rose

SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University softball team swept the College of Saint Rose by scores of 4-0 and 9-1 in a Northeast-10 double-header played today at the Bryant Softball Complex.

Bryant (12-10, 9-1 NE-10) would score two runs in the third inning of game one when the Bulldogs loaded the bases and Diane Cummings drew a walk to score the first run of the game.  Deidre Kittiedge would make it 2-0 scoring on a wild pitch.

Nikki Ingalls pitched well for the Bulldogs, allowing only two hits over seven innings and striking out two for the win.

The Bulldogs scored two more in the fifth when Bri Durborow hit a two-run double for the win.

Saint Rose (3-15, 0-8 NE-10) would score in the first inning of game two when Kimberly Frisbee hit an RBI single that scored Kristen Callahan who doubled to start the game.

Bryant would settle down and score two runs in the third and fourth and finished it in fifth with four runs.

The fifth inning saw Lindsay Connor start the scoring with an RBI single followed by a two run double from Kittredge. Jordan Dargon would finish the game for Bryant when she hit a RBI single that scored Connor.

Jennifer Bernier got the win for Bryant going five innings allowing one run on hits and striking out five. For the Golden Knights, Calahan and Shannon Delos took the loses.

Bryant was led on the day by Connor who went 4-for-8 with an RBI and two runs scored while Kittredge went 5-for-6 with four RBIs. Duborow went 3-for-6 with three RBIs.

Bryant will return to action on Tuesday when they host Merrimack College at 3:00PM.
