SMITFIELD, RI – Shaun Leddy (Sea Grit, NJ) scored six goals as the Bryant University women's lacrosse team beat Northeast-10 for Southern Connecticut 19-7 in game played today at Bulldog Stadium.
The win was Bryant's third in row improving their record to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in Northeast-10 play while Southern Connecticut falls to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in conference.
The Bulldogs would use a scoring spurt in the first half to take a 7-2 lead at the break. With eight minutes to go in the half Bryant scored three goals within a minute. The first one came when Amanda Gallant (Andover, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal followed by a pair of goals from Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, Calif.).
Southern Connecticut two first half goals came with under a minute to play Lauren Adamkieicz scored followed by a goal by Allison Aheran with one second to go.
The second half saw the Owls cut the lead to 9-5 behind three straight goals by Chelsea Spring. After that the Bulldogs netted five straight including to by Leddy to make it 14-5 en route to the Bryant win.
Carlisle netted five goals and one assist and Gallant scored for Bryant. Spring lead the way for the Southern Connecticut with four goals while four other Owls each netted one goal.
Samantha Libby (Penacook, NH) got the win in goal for Bryant stopping seven shots and Cori Krajewski took the loss for Southern Connecticut stopping 14.
Bryant will return to action tomorrow when they host AIC at 4:00PM.
