SMITHFIELD, RI – Senior Melissa Talamini
(Mendon, Mass.) scored
six goals as the Bryant University women's lacrosse team beat
Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael's 14-8 Sunday
afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.
With the win Bryant finishes the regular season 11-4 overall and
8-2 in conference ensuring a top three finish in the Northeast-10
Conference. Saint Michael's record now stands at 5-5 overall
and 5-3 in conference play.
Talamini was joined in the scorebook by fellow seniors
Michelle Lewis (East Amherst, NY), who recorded
eight groundballs and caused five turnovers, Lynne
Zolttowski (Colts Neck, NJ), who recorded seven
groundballs and caused four turnovers, and Kristen Patat
(Portsmouth, NH) who had a strong afternoon anchoring the
defense.
In the first half Saint Michael's would jump out to an
early 1-0 lead following a Megan Rule goal three minutes into the
contest. Bryant would respond by scoring 10 of the next 11 goals
scored in the period. Talamini would open the scoring for the
Bulldogs with an unassisted goal just one minute later to tie the
game at 1-1. Shaun Leddy (Sea Grit, NJ) then
scored when she took an Amanda Gallant
(Andover,
Mass.) pass and made it 2-1 and
the Bulldogs would cruise.
Talamini and Leddy each netted three goals in the half,
plus added two from Gallant, and one each from Lauren
Carlisle (San Diego,
Calif.) and Marisa
Lawrence (Falmouth,
Mass.).
Samantha Libby
(Penacook,
NH) got the win in goal making 12
saves.
Bryant will return to action Wednesday, May 4, when the
Northeast-10 Conference Tournament starts.
