Smithfield, RI - The
Bryant University field hockey team dropped their second straight
NE-10 Conference game on Saturday to Saint Michael's 4-2. The
Bulldogs fall to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference. Bryant will
travel to Merrimack on Thursday with a 3:30pm start time.
The Purple Knights came out of the gate aggressive taking 15 shots
in the first half. They netted their first goal almost nine minutes
into the contest on a goal by junior Cassie Dewey (Lebanon, NJ).
Less than two minutes later, the Bulldogs would fight back with a
goal from junior Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, MA).
Saint Michael's would take a 2-1 lead just before halftime on
a goal by freshman Andrea Slaven (Danvers, MA).
Junior tri-captain Michaela Dwyer (Buskrik, NY)
made the match even at 2-2 by scoring at 44:44.
The Purple Knights would take the lead for good as they got two
goals off penalty corners late in the second half. The go ahead
goal was scored by junior Lindsay Harrison (Brandon, VT) on assists
from juniors Ashley Webb and Lindsay Brancaleone. Senior Nikki
Pickman (Southbury, CT) netted the games final goal on an assist
from senior Emma Kosciak (Groton, MA).
