Bryant University Women's Soccer falls 1-0 to UMass

LOWELL, MA (Sept. 17, 2005) – Freshman F Natalia Mendoza
(Haverhill, MA)
scored the lone goal in the 71st minute as UMass Lowell defeated
Bryant
University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference
women's
soccer clash at Cushing Field.
The victory extended UML's school-record winning streak to
seven
matches. It also marked the sixth shutout of the season for the
River
Hawks, who improved to 7-1-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the NE-10.
Bryant
slipped to 5-3-2 overall and 2-2-0 in the Conference.
Mendoza's goal came off a through-ball pass from junior M
Kristin
Mahoney (Newburyport, MA), which enabled for a one-on-one with
Bryant goalkeeper Jessica Neales (Swansea, MA).
Mendoza tucked the shot just to the right of Neales.
Bryant outshot UML 10-6 overall, but UML had a 4-3 edge on target
as freshman Jennifer Cole (Dracut, MA) stopped two shots for her
fourth shutout of the year. Neales had three saves for the
Bulldogs.
