Bryant University rallies
past Southern New Hampshire
2-1
Smithfield, RI - The Bryant University women's soccer team
welcomed Southern New Hampshire to Bulldog stadium on a sunny
Wednesday afternoon. The Bulldogs came back from a 1-0 deficit to
defeat the Penmen 2-1. Bryant improves to 6-3-2 overall and 3-2-1
in Northeast-10 Conference play.
Southern New Hampshire got out to an early lead just four minutes
into the match when sophomore Laurie Boland (Worcester, MA) fired a
shot from just outside of the box over the keepers head.
Bryant had a disappointing first-half missing on multiple scoring
chances. Senior Nikki Grandmaison (East Hampstead,
NH) had a chance to tie the game at 1-1 near the end of the
first-half but the ball traveled just high and hit off the
crossbar. Sophomore Stephanie Zalewski
(Parsippany, NJ) gathered the rebound and shot the ball barely over
the crossbar as time expired.
The second half was a different story as the Bulldogs would score
twice to take the 2-1 victory. Senior Sara
Vienneau (Salem, NH) tied the match at 1-1 on a bounding
ball that bounced over the keepers head. Junior Casey
Grange (Methuen, MA) would score the game winner in the
bottom right corner passed the keeper on a pass from sophomore
Diane Pascale (Plymouth, MA).
Freshman Jessica Neales (Swansea, MA) went the
distance for the Bulldogs saving four shots. Sophomore keeper
Nicole Visconti (North Reading, MA) saved 10 shots
for the Penmen.
The Bulldogs will host Saint Michael's during Homecoming
weekend Saturday, September 24 with a scheduled game time start of
10:00am.
