Bryant Field Hockey drops a tough one 1-0 to Merrimack

Bryant drops third straight

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Junior Cassandra Leone (North Andover, Mass.) scored the only goal of the game at 4:42 of the first half to give Merrimack a 1-0 win over the Bulldogs in Northest-10 field hockey action Thursday afternoon at Warrior Field.

 

Leone's fifth goal of the season came off a pass from classmate Kristin Belair (Methuen, Mass.) as the Warriors improved to 5-3 (5-3 NE-10) with the win. The loss extends the Bulldogs' losing streak to three games and drops their overall record to 3-6 and 2-5 in Northeast-10 action.

 

Bryant controlled play in the second half and finished the contest with a 19-7 edge in shots and a 10-1 edge in penalty corners. Junior forward Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, MA) took a game-high 11 shots for the Bulldogs but could not connect. Sophomore goalkeeper Kasey Kortz (Louisville, KY) made four saves.

 

The Bulldogs return to action this Saturday when they travel to Assumption. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
