WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO C.W. POST 21-8

Poole tied for the game-high with four goals
Saturday afternoon at Hickox Field, leading the second-ranked C.W.
Post women's lacrosse team to a 21-8 victory over visiting Bryant.
The 21 goals scored by the Pioneers (7-0) tied for the most
scored in a single-game in school history; CWP won its last game
against Mercyhurst (Mar. 26) by a 21-9 decision.
C.W. Post scored the first nine goals of the contest, en route
to a 13-3 halftime advantage. After Poole scored a pair of goals
less than two minutes into the game, Jenna
Miller's (2 a) lone tally of the afternoon five
minutes in came just before a pair of goals by both Fabian and
Lauren LoMonaco (3 g, 1 a) gave
the Pioneers a 7-0 advantage with 21:09 remaining.
Colleen Agostinachio and
Masina Longo (3 g, game-high 7
draw ctrl.) closed out the game-opening stretch, before a pair of
Delia Glover (4 g, 4 draw ctrl.) scores sandwiched a Lauren
Carlisle (2 g) tally and pulled the Bulldogs (3-3) within a 9-3
count with 8:19 to go in the half. LoMonaco, Longo,
Ashlyn Giulianelli (1 g, 1 a) and
Poole each scored single goals as C.W. Post closed out the half
with a 4-0 spurt.
The Pioneers took full advantage to start the second half,
scoring the first four goals of the frame - including two in the
opening three minutes by Poole and Elaine
Williams (2 g, 2 a).
On the afternoon, C.W. Post held a 32-20 shot adavantage over
Bryant, and the hosts were successful on 19 of their 20 clears. The
Pioneers also held advantages in the ground ball (24-19) and draw
control (18-13) battles.
Freshman Gabrielle Letterel
came off the bench to score three second-half goals for CWP, while
classmates Samantha Lyons (goal)
and Jaclyn Napoli (assist) also
registered points in the latter frame. Defender
Kristin Godfrey led all players
with three caused turnovers. Starting keeper Lauren
Scipione made six first-half saves, while
Chrissy Esposito stopped three
shots in her second-half action.
Lindsey Cann and Marisa Lawrence scored single goals for Bryant,
while Shaun Leddy recorded the lone Bulldogs assist on the day.
Starting goalkeeper Samantha Libby made seven saves in her 49:55 of
action, before giving way to Marie Grant (10:05; 2 GA, 0 svs.).
