New Haven,
Conn. - The Women's Field Hockey team continued
its hot play of late, winning its second straight conference game,
by the score of 4-3 over Southern Connecticut.
The Bulldogs struck early with Shana Libman
(Attleboro,
Mass.) and Caitlan
Johnson (Walpole,
Mass.) scoring 13 minutes apart
early in the first half. Johnson's goal was her team-leading third
and was scored off a penalty corner.
After SCSU made it 2-1, co-captain Michaela Dwyer
(Buskirk,
N.Y.) answered six minutes later,
scoring her first of the season assisted by Bryant's other
co-captain Laynie Sadler
(Rehoboth,
Mass.)
Freshman Ashley Rebello (Oak Bluffs, Mass.)
picked a great time for her first collegiate goal, as she opened
the second half with a big goal to give the Bulldogs the 4-1 lead.
But the Owls stormed right back scoring twice in three minutes.
However, Bryant's defense re-focused and defended its lead
flawlessly in the final ten minutes giving the Bulldogs the
one-goal victory.
Kundayi Mawema
(Hare,
Zimbabwe) made seven saves to
pick up her second victory of the season
Bryant (2-3, 2-1 NE-10) will host Franklin Pierce Saturday at
