Smithfield, R.I. - The Bryant University
Women's Soccer team lost to UMass-Lowell Friday night 2-1 amidst
2000 chilly fans at the Bulldog Turf Complex.
Tricia Spada (Dedham, Mass.) brought her team
to within one, when scored her second goal of the season in the
70th minute on a penalty kick.
In the 83rd minute, the Bulldogs nearly tied the
match, but captain Casey Grange's (Methuen, Mass.)
seven-foot header was just wide of the right corner the net.
Jamie Lynn Cathcart scored just 50-seconds into the match,
beating starting goaltender Katie Mitchell (Deer Park,
N.Y.) who had come out to challenge Cathcart. Kristina
Cleverdon beat Mitchell in the 50th minute as she found
herself wide open in the middle of the box and banged a shot home
off two Bulldog defenders.
Bryant was outshot 6-4 by the River Hawks, but managed seven
corners while Lowell did not attempt any.
The Bulldogs (5-4-0, 3-3-0 NE-10) will visit Southern New
Hampshire Wednesday (7 p.m.)
