BRYANT WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS MERRIMACK, 1-0
NORTH ANDOVER, MA - The ninth-ranked Bryant University women's
soccer team shut out Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack College,
1-0 Saturday afternoon on the road at Warrior Field. The win is
Bryant's 15th of the season, tying the school record for wins in a
season, set last year.
In the 34th minute, senior Tricia Spada scored the
game's lone goal, blasting a shot into the lower left side of the
net past Warrior goalkeeper Shannon Rowan. It was Spada's
team-leading eighth goal of the season, while Brianne Lustenring
notched her second assist on the year.
The Bulldogs notched 11 shots on goal - led by a team-high three
from junior Amy Orzechowski - while the Warriors mustered just five
against Bryant's veteran defense. Bryant outshot Merrimack on the
day, 17-8.
Bryant is currently ranked second in the New England region with
Merrimack coming in at No. 4. Saturday's 1-0 victory came on
Merrimack's Senior Day.
With the victory, Bryant remains unbeaten on the season at
15-0-4 (10-0-3 Northeast-10), while the Warriors drop to 10-3-4
(8-3-3).
Bryant wraps up its regular season Tuesday at home against Pace
University at 3:00 p.m.
