Boxscore
DAVIDSON, N.C. - Led by a pair of goals from both Hannah English
and Ellie Szykowny, Davidson College trumped the Bryant University
field hockey team, as the Bulldogs fell, 7-1, on Saturday afternoon
in Davidson, N.C.
The Bulldogs (1-12) took an early 1-0 lead when they got their
only goal of the day from junior Johnson Caitlan Johnson
(Walpole, Mass.) just 2:51 into the contest off an
unassisted shot from the top of the circle that found its way into
the right side of the net.
But the lead would be short lived, as English scored her first
of two goals in the eighth minute of play. A Kathelijn van der Ven
score less than a minute later gave the Wildcats (4-12) the lead
for good, as the Bulldogs fell to a 7-1 final.
Junior goalkeeper Kundayi Mawema (Harare,
Zimbabwe) made five saves on the day, while Johnson and
Julie Kuchyt (Hatfield, Mass.) recorded Bryant's
only two shots on goal.
The Bulldogs play against Sunday, Oct. 19, when they take on
Radford in a 1 p.m. matchup in Davidson, N.C.
