BULLDOGS LOOK FOR FIRST WIN AT
REBEL GAMES
SMITHFIELD, RI - After playing five
games at the 24th annual Louisiana Classic three weeks ago, the
Bryant University softball team will travel to Kissimmee, Fla. for
the annual Rebel Spring Games. The Bulldogs will play 10 games in
five days at the event, with their first pitch
scheduled for Sunday, March 7 at 1 p.m. against Detroit Mercy.
Bryant (0-5) went 3-5 at the 2009 Rebel Games and closed their
stay in style as the Bulldogs won their last two. The squad picked
up wins against IPFW, Bucknell as well as Youngstown St in extra
innings. Junior tri-captain Sami Houseal
(Mount Joy, Pa.) pitched all eight innings in that
contest, striking out eight and picking up the win. Houseal went
3-3 on the trip with a 2.95 earned run average. Senior Ali
Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) picked up the game-winning RBI
in the top of the eighth against the Penguins. Sophomore
Lauren McCart (Voorhees, N.J.) led the team with a
.350 batting average over the course of the Rebel Games.
The 2010 Rebel Spring Games are over a month long and consist of
well over 200 teams. On the Bulldogs week-long trip they will have
two matchups with Detroit Mercy and one with: Fairfield, Lehigh,
Butler, UPenn, LaSalle, Indiana State, Youngstown State and Saint
Louis.
Bryant opens action at 1 p.m. on Sunday when they face off
against the Detroit Mercy Titans. They return to action Sunday
night when they play the Fairfield Stags at 5 p.m. There will be no
