SOFTBALL HEADS TO SAN DIEGO FOR EIGHT GAMES OVER SPRING BREAK WEEK
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After nearly a month-long break from action, the Bryant University softball team will head to The Golden State for eight games over spring break week.
The Bulldogs will open action on Sunday, March 10 against the University of San Diego, before doing battle with Fairfield on Tuesday, March 12 and Texas Tech on Wednesday, March 13. The Black and Gold will then head to San Diego State University for the San Diego Classic II for five games from March 14-16. Bryant will open tourney action against the host Aztecs on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. EST before a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Bulldogs faceoff with Marist at 12 p.m. EST before playing UT Arlington at 2:30 p.m. EST, closing action on Saturday with games against UNLV (12 p.m. EST) and the University of San Diego (5 p.m. EST).
Bryant enters the weekend with a 1-3 record after its four-game stint at the Tiger Invitational Tournament in February. After earning a big 10-4 victory over Tennessee St. in the opening game, the Bulldogs ran into some tough opponents over the next three, falling to Auburn, Indiana St. and Kansas.
Entering the week, junior outfielder and California-native Lauren Guy (La Habra, Calif) leads the Bulldogs with a .375 average (3-8) to go along with a pair of RBIs. Sophomore Madeline Velasquez (Los Angeles, Calif.) and junior Aubrey Mable (Aurora, Colo.) rank first and second on the team with 4 and 3 RBIs, respectively, each going yard once vs. Tennessee St.
This will be the Bulldogs final road trip before their home opener against Stony Brook on Wednesday, March 20.
