Coach Purcell's Comments

"It was another tough loss for our team. We played really well for a lot of stretches in this game, but again we have to be stronger at the end. We need to do better when we're on the ball, and when we're defending, we need to be tougher to win the ball back and not let teams get easy opportunities. We'll continue to build and try to get better as we get ready for Saturday."

Key Moment

DeAndrae Brown started the scoring for the Minutemen, as James McPherson played him in off a goalkeeper punt and finished high on junior Olivier Larente (Garches, France) to give UMass all they would need.

Scoring Summary

75th minute – UMass 1, Bryant 0 – Miller punted it long after stopping a Bulldog opportunity and McPherson won the ball in the air, allowing Brown to get in behind and finish over the sliding Larente.

78th minute – UMass 2, Bryant 0 – McPherson scored a goal of his own when he forced a Bulldog turnover and dribbled into the middle. As a Bryant defender and Larente came out to play the ball, McPherson slid it low and it snuck into the net.

81st minute – UMass 3, Bryant 0 – In almost a mirror image of his first goal, Brown got on the end of a McPherson flick in towards the box and finished high into the net to finish the scoring for the Minutemen.

Stats/Notes

Freshman Ben Williams (Unionville, Ontario) provided Bryant's only shot on frame early in the second half.

After a 4-1 margin in the first half, Bryant was more positive towards goal in the second with UMass taking the shot margin 6-5.

The foul margin was virtually even, with Bryant committing nine fouls to UMass' eight.
