SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University field hockey team opens its 2021 season on Friday night at Providence College. Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. 

Bryant will then travel to UMass Lowell on Sunday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. game.

Bryant vs. Providence

Bulldog Notes and Notables

• Bryant returns a talented group this fall that includes NFHCA All-Region goalie Marijn Jaarsma. 
• Jaarsma posted a 2.52 goals against average and a .821 save percentage last spring. 
• Taryn Rauff is back and will look to regain her freshman year form that saw her notch four goals. 
• Bryant also returns nine players that started at least four games a season ago.

Scouting the Friars

• The Friars were picked fifth in the Big East preseason poll.
• Niamh Gowing (five points) and Sophia Pompeo (four points) were Providence's leading scorers in the spring.

Scouting the River Hawks

• UML opens the season at No. 9 Maryland on Friday. 
• The River Hawks went 7-5 last spring, including a victory over No. 16 Stanford. 
• Berbel Rozema led UML with four goals and four assists in the spring.
