SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Lotte Guitink scored her seventh goal of the season but the Bryant University field hockey team was defeated by UMass Lowell, 4-1, on Saturday.

• The River Hawks scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half to break a 1-1 tie.                

HOW IT HAPPENED

UML grabbed the lead in the third minute, scoring on a penalty corner. 

The Bulldogs knotted the game with 1:10 left in the half on a penalty corner of its own. Guitink was able to carry the ball to the right side of the circle and then fired a reverse into the back of the cage. 

UML grabbed the lead on a pair of penalty corner goals just four minutes apart in the third quarter. The River Hawks capped the scoring with just over three minutes left.

• Guitink scored her seventh goal of the year and now has 7 goals and 2 assists for 16 points.
• Brittany Gouws collected the assist and has a team-leading 20 points (7g, 6a).
• Dieneke Hes made a career-high 15 saves.

Bryant closes its season with games on Friday and Saturday of next week. The Bulldogs will face Albany on Friday before celebrating Senior Day on Saturday, October 29.
