Bryant hosts Merrimack Tuesday at Conaty Park

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant baseball team hosts Merrimack on Tuesday afternoon at Conaty Park. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday marks the third and final midweek meeting between the Bulldogs and Warriors this season. Bryant has won each of the previous two meetings.

Bryant vs. Merrimack

  • Bryant and Merrimack are meeting for the third time this season. The Bulldogs have won both meetings and are 11-2 all-time vs Merrimack at the DI level.
  • On March 6, a walk-off safety squeeze completed a comeback from 8-1 down in the seventh inning.
  • On March 26, Brandyn Durand's three-run home run in the eighth inning put the Bulldogs ahead in a 6-5 victory.  

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters the week 27-14 overall following a 1-2 weekend at Pitt. The Black and Gold are 26-7 since starting the year 1-7. Bryant's win over Pitt on Friday marked the Bulldogs' second ACC win in as many seasons.
  • Carmine Petosa has reached safely in all 41 games this season and his on-base streak sits at 44 dating back to last year. The streak is the longest by a Bulldog since Robby Rinn reached in 50-straight in 2016. Petosa is hitting .302 with 15 doubles, eight home runs, 40 RBI, 39 runs scored and a .470 OBP. Petosa is tied for fourth in DI program history with 22 career home runs.
  • Gavin Noriega continues to pace the offense with 44 RBI and 44 runs scored. He has clubbed 14 home runs and owns a .465 OBP.
  • Zac Zyons brings an 21-game on-base streak into the week. He has 12 multi-hit games over his last 18 and has chipped in 25 RBI and 30 runs scored. Zyons is hitting .464 with a 1.221 OPS in the month of April.
  • Brandyn Durand had a big weekend at Pitt, homering in all three games and finishing with seven RBI. He now has eight home runs, 23 RBI and 31 runs scored on the year. 

Scouting the Warriors

  • Merrimack enters Tuesday on a six-game winning streak. The Warriors are 21-22 overall and 13-10 in the NEC.
  • The Warriors are hitting .285 with 73 home runs on the year.
  • Frankie Ferrentino (14), Christian Scanlon (12), Dawson Bryce (10) and Braydon Dolbashian (10) all have double-digit home runs.
