Bryant closes out home slate with walk-off win over Stonehill

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Brandyn Durand delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth as the Bryant baseball team defeated Stonehill, 10-9, on a gorgeous Tuesday afternoon at Conaty Park.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 32-17 overall and close the year 19-4 at Conaty Park. Bryant now heads to Baltimore for its final regular season series against UMBC. The series starts Thursday night.

Durand finished with three hits and three RBI, while Daniel Baruch hit a two-run home run and drove in four runs to pace the Black and Gold. Chris Einemann added three hits and scored the game-winning run.

How it Happened

  • Bryant grabbed the lead with a run in the third. Gavin Greger singled, stole second and scored as Evan Blake singled into center field.
  • The Skyhawks tied the game in the top of the fourth with a two-out single to center.
  • Bryant quickly answered, retaking the lead on a Baruch home run in the bottom of the fourth. Baruch launched a 3-1 pitch to dead center for his ninth home run of the year.
  • Stonehill made it a 3-2 game with a run in the fifth on a two-out error.
  • The Skyhawks took a 4-3 lead with two runs on bases-loaded hit batters in the sixth.
  • Bryant quickly answered in the bottom of the inning, retaking a 5-4 lead. Einemann singled, stole second and scored on a Baruch single. Baruch then singled, stole second and scored on a Phinney single to make it 5-4.
  • The Black and Gold opened the game up with four runs in the seventh. Bryant loaded the bases with no outs and Einemann doubled to left center to score a pair. Durand (RBI 1B) and Baruch (sac fly) each brought home runs to close out the inning.
  • Stonehill rallied with five runs in the ninth to tie it. A three-run home run made it a two-run game and Sam Parks tied the game with a two-out, two-run single.
  • In the bottom of the ninth, Einemann and Carmine Petosa singled to start the rally. Durand then drove a double off the right field wall to bring home Einemann with the winning run.
