Bryant loses 4-2 on the road against Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CONN. - The Bryant University women's soccer team fell to Fairfield 4-2 on Thursday evening in Fairfield.

Coaches comments on the loss…

"We were too inconsistent tonight. We scored early on and for significant stretches, we played quite well. At other times, we allowed our level to drop, played poorly, and Fairfield took advantage. So in the end, the score ends up at 4-2. Continuing to improve our communication will go a long way to helping us maintain the momentum we build."

  • Fairfield's Reagan Klarmann used her head to send Meghan Carragher's free kick into the goal, giving the Stags a lead that continued for the remainder of the game.

  • 7th minute - Bryant 1, Fairfield 0 - Hailey Koons sent the ball past a Fairfield defender into open space where Catie Bean was able to put it past the keeper and into the net.

  • 29th minute - Bryant 1, Fairfield 1 - Elle Scott of Fairfield dribbled the ball past Bryant defenders and kicked it under a diving Negron to tie it up.

  • 42nd minute - Bryant 1, Fairfield 2 - Fairfield's Meghan Carragher performed a free kick in which Reagan Klarmann knocked off her head and into the net to put the Stags ahead before the end of the first half. 

  • 56th minute - Bryant 1, Fairfield 3 - Whitney Vaillant attempts to pass the ball to another Bryant defender but Fairfield's Alex Darcy takes advantage of the open ball and finds the net.

  • 66th minute - Bryant 2, Fairfield 3 - Hailey Koons sent the ball into an open 18 and Jordyn Collins was able to finish it for the Bulldogs second goal. 

  • 80th minute - Bryant 2, Fairfield 4 - Fairfield's Ashlyn Walsh drives the ball into the left post where it bounces off into the goal.

Game Notes

  • The Black and Gold take their second loss of the season.

  • Kelsie Wandyes was playing her first game at Fairfield since transferring to Bryant from Fairfield after the 2022 season.

  • Catie Bean scored her first goal of the season and the 10th of her career.

  • Jordyn Collins scored her second goal of the season, the seventh of her career.

  • Hailey Koons was named the assist on both goals, her third and fourth points for this year.

  • Selena Negron has been the only goalkeeper to see the field for the Bulldogs this season. She finished Thursday's game with eight saves, setting a new personal record. 

  • The Stags finished with 23 shots, the Bulldogs eight.

Next Up

Bryant is to continue its four-game stretch on the road by traveling to North Andover, Mass. to take on Merrimack College on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
