TRACK AND FIELD SETS RECORDS IN AN OCEAN STATE OPENING WEEKEND

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bryant Track and Field team opened the 2025-26 indoor season this weekend; including a win for the men at the Alden Invitational organized by Brown University. In addition to that meet, the program competed in the Heptathlon and Pentathlon at the University of Rhode Island. Multiple personal and school records were set across a three-day weekend in the Ocean State.

Jake Martino earned a PR in the pole vault during his run in the URI Heptathlon. Martino recorded a pole vault of 3.20 meters and won the shot put event with a throw of 13.27 meters. Martino finished the Heptathlon in 13th overall. Connor McCue finished in ninth overall and Kevin Cavrell finished in 10th.

Amanda Kalinoski finished eighth in the URI Pentathlon. The sophomore earned third in the shot part with a throw of 10.89 meters. The freshman Kelley Wright earned eighth in the shot put with 9.70 meters.

Moving on to the Alden Invitational, Kate DeSousa earned a school record with a 1.66 meter high jump. The senior's previous personal record in the indoor event was 1.55 meters set in the 2023 URI Invitational. Kate DeSousa surpassed Emma Green (2023)'s high jump of 1.61 meters to become the all time school record holder.

Georgia Wilson earned a school record in her first race of the season, a finish of 8.88 seconds in the 60m hurdles.

Kalen Knott earned a school record in the indoor pole vault. He finished first with 4.90 meters. Knott extended his personal best, the previous school record of 4.88 meters set in 2025.

Kevin Brooks earned a PR in the 60 meter and 300 meter events. Brooks finished first in the 300 meter event and earned a school record with a time of 35.18 seconds. Brooks surpassed William Remkiewicz (2022)'s record of 35.46 seconds. Freshman Josiah Johnson also usurped the former record, finishing second with 35.45 seconds.

Ella Goulas earned a PR and school record in the triple jump event. She jumped 11.94 meters and finished first. Goulas surpassed Dasani Stewart (2025)'s record of 11.78 meters to become the all time school record holder.
Sam LaMalfa earned a school record in the 600 meter race and earned second with a time of 1:20.83. Ryan Bourke and Toby Ruffo each had strong performances, finishing in the top three on the track and in the all time school record book.

Other standout performances included:

  • Bryant saw three runners round out the top three of the men's 300 meter race. Kevin Brooks finished first, Josiah Johnson earned second, and Vincent Sivo earned a PR in the bronze finish.
  • Carlos Allen earned a PR finished second in the 60 meter hurdles, recording a time of 8.90 seconds.
  • Samuel LaMalfa finished second in the 600 meter and earned a PR of 1:20.83. Additionally, Ryan Bourke finished with a time of 1:23:18.
  • Aaron Barnwell earned a PR and won the high jump with a jump of 2.00 meters. 
  • Ian Thomas finished the long jump in second with a leap of 6.90 meters.
  • Mike O'Reilly earned second in the shot put and Darius Smith finished not to far behind him in fourth.
  • Jalen Wise finished the triple jump in first place, recording 13.92 meters.
  • Malik Ogbunamiri earned a personal record in the 60 meter race with a time of 7.02 seconds.
  • Lauren Haddad and Ava Burl each earned personal records in the 600 meter event. Haddad finished second with a time 1:36.79 and Burl finished with a time of 1:39.02.
  • Liv Pachter and Alexa Fisher each earned PR and finished 3000 meter event in the top five.
  • Panayiota Anastos earned second place in the shot put event, recording a 12.61 meter throw.
  • The women's team saw four student athletes finish in the top five of the long jump.
  • Jordyn Collins finished second in the 60 meter run. She also finished best on the team in the 300m run, earning sixth place. 
  • Georgia Wilson finished the 60 meter hurdles in fifth place.

Bryant capping off a day of historic achievements and multi-event excellence finishing in first place for the men and third place for the women. Next for Head Coach Mitchell Switzer and the Bulldogs is on home turf as they host the Bryant Indoor Throws Competition on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
