THE SERIES
This marks the 19th all-time meeting between Bryant and Merrimack and the 5th at the Division I level. Last season the Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 16-14 in Smithfield.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
The Warriors enter Saturday at 0-2 on the season following losses to Bucknell and UMass Lowell. Sophomore attackman Brady Covey currently leads the team in scoring with six points (5g, 1a). He recently netted four goals last Friday against Lowell. Graduate midfielder Casey Herod is also coming off a solid performance last game, posting four points (1g, 3a). Junior Anthony Kulturides has been the Warriors primary goalie through the first two games. In 105 minutes of play he has tallied 29 saves and has a 16.57 GAA. Merrimack has been operating a two man platoon at faceoff to start 2025. Sophomore Daniel Bezrutchenko has seen the majority of draws, going 15-33 at X to start the season. He is accompanied by freshman Hunter Johnson who has 9-25 on faceoffs this year. The Warriors are coached by Mike Sciamanna who is in his first season with the team. Merrimack is also competing in their first season in the MAAC.
BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES
- Four Bulldogs scored their first career goals with the Black and Gold on Saturday. Senior transfer Brian Russell led the group with two goals.
- Graduate transfer Nick Vance scored his first goal at the Division I level following an outstanding four year career at DIII Denison.
- Max Dantona and Owen West would also tally the first goals of their collegiate careers.
- Sophomore Patrick Walsh recorded his first career hat trick against Providence on Saturday. He finished with five points (3g, 2a).
- JJ Murphy won 16-30 faceoffs in his first career start on Feb. 8.
- Dawson Rielly posted two goals and scooped three ground balls last weekend.
- Jack Lonsinger registered three points (1g, 2a) against the Friars.
