Bulldogs travel to take on Quinnipiac Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team heads to Hamden, Connecticut and will look to extend their win streak when they face Quinnipiac on Saturday, February 22nd. Faceoff is set for 12:00 PM.

THE SERIES
This is the 8th matchup between the Bulldogs and the Bobcats. Bryant leads the all-time Division I series 5-2. The Black and Gold are 3-0 on the road against Quinnipiac.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS

The Bobcats enter Saturday at 0-2 on the season following losses at UMass and St. John's. Sophomore attackman Nate Watson currently leads the team in scoring with five points (3g, 2a). He recently netted a goal last Tuesday against St. John's. Sophomore attacker Johnny Karafa and freshman midfielder Jake Gallose are also coming off strong performances against the Red Storm; each tallying two goals on Tuesday. Senior Mason Oak has been the Bobcats primary goalie through the first two games. In 118 minutes of play he has recorded 33 saves and has a 17.23 GAA. Sophomore Frank Mousa has been the main faceoff specialist to start the season. He has gone 12-of-25 at the X through the first two games. The Bobcats are coached by Mason Poli who is in his 11th season with the team. Poli is a Bryant Men's Lacrosse alum. He played in 55 games for the Black and Gold from 2010-13.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES
  • Saturday's win over Merrimack marked Bryant's 250th win since becoming a varsity program in 2000. It was also their 150th victory at the Division I level.
  • Dawson Rielly was named America East Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 17 after posting a career high six points (5g, 1a) against Merrimack. 
  • Scott Einarson would be named Goalie of the Week by the conference after stopping 13-of-16 shots in the Bulldogs win over the Warriors.
  • Four players tallied hat-tricks in Bryant's win over Merrimack. Rielly led the group with five goals. Patrick Walsh, Brian Russell, and Kyle Fedorcha would all score three times.
  • Three players recorded their first goals with the Black and Gold last Saturday. Freshman Zac Amend scored the first two goals of his collegiate career and finished the day with four points (2g, 2a). Graduate transfer Brett Callahan scored his first goal with the Bulldogs and the third of his career. Callahan previously played at Bucknell. Junior Matt Groeninger rounds out the group. He scored his first collegiate goal at the 7:22 mark in the 4th quarter.
