Bulldogs fall to Dayton, 10-8, on Saturday

DAYTON, Ohio – The Bryant baseball team fell to Dayton, 10-8, on Saturday afternoon at the Woerner Field.
 
The Bulldogs fall to 4-7-1 overall with the loss. Bryant and Dayton wrap up their series on Sunday at noon.
 
Matt D'Amato, Gavin Noriega and Zac Zyons all drove in two runs for the Bulldogs on Saturday. Eliot Medlock and Gavin Greger each contributed two hits.

Key Moments
  • Dayton scored twice without the benefit of a hit to take a 9-8 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
How it Happened
  • Dayton opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first. A double to left center set up a sac fly.
  • The Flyers took advantage of a two-out error in the third to take a 3-0 lead. A throwing error extended the inning and MacDougall followed with a two-run home run.
  • Bryant took the lead in the top of the fourth, scoring four two-out runs. Aleksei Goldhill extended the inning with a two-out double and Jacob Gaudreau walked. D'Amato followed with a two-run double down the right field line. Eliot Medlock tied the game as he knocked a 1-2 pitch back up the middle and Noriega gave Bryant the lead with a double to left.
  • The Flyers responded in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs of their own with two outs. A single to center tied the game and a two-run triple gave Dayton the lead. The Flyers capped the inning with an RBI single.
  • Bryant rallied back to take the lead with a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth. In the fifth, Zyons reached third on an error by the right fielder and scored on a Greger double to right center.
  • In the sixth, Medlock doubled and came around to score on a Noriega single. Zyons then gave Bryant the lead with a two-run double to right center.
  • In the bottom of the frame, Bryant pitchers loaded the bases with three hit batters and then walked in back-to-back runs to give Dayton a 9-8 lead.
