THE SERIES
- Saturday's game marks the ninth time the Bulldogs and Bison have faced off. It is the first matchup between the two schools in over five seasons.
- In their last game against each other back in 2020, Bucknell came away with a narrow 11-9 victory.
- This will be Brad Ross' first game against the Bison since taking the reins as the Bulldogs head coach.
- While this marks the first official neutral-site matchup between Bryant and Bucknell, the two teams previously played one another at the ForeKicks indoor facility in Taunton, Mass., in 2016, after a scheduled Bryant home game was relocated due to cold weather. Bucknell won that contest 11-10.
TRIO OF DAWGS EARN AE WEEKLY AWARDS
- Three Bulldogs took home weekly awards from the America East Conference, on Monday, Apr. 7. Dawson Rielly was named Offensive Player of the Week, Drew Lucas took home Defensive Player of the Week honors, and Owen West earned the conference's Rookie of the Week.
- Rielly took home his second OPOW award this season after posting six points (5g, 1a) in Bryant's win over NJIT this past Saturday.
- Lucas came away with his second DPOW selection this season after a remarkable outing against the Highlanders. Lucas finished with four caused turnovers, four ground balls, and scored his first goal of the season in the victory.
- West rounded out the award winners for the Bulldogs, being named Rookie of the Week. West had a career day in Newark, recording a career high six points (3g, 3a). Saturday's win also marked the first hat trick of West's career.
BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES
- Bulldogs graduate midfielder Brett Callahan played for four seasons at Bucknell. In 11 career games, he tallied three points (2g, 1a), two ground balls, and one caused turnover. Callahan has appeared in three games with the Bulldogs this season. He scored his first career goal with the Black and Gold against Merrimack on Feb. 15.
- Brian Russell is the only member of the Bulldogs that has faced Bucknell, doing so with Merrimack. In one career game, Russell finished with two ground balls and one caused turnover.
- Dawson Rielly moved into a tie for fifth in the NCAA in man-up goals after tallying his sixth of the season against NJIT last Saturday.
- JJ Murphy ranks top 20 in the nation (19th) in ground balls per game (6.00). Murphy has scooped 60 GB's so far this season.
- Scott Einarson lowered his league leading goals against average to 9.31 on Saturday after making seven saves and only allowing five goals in Bryant's win over NJIT. He currently ranks 15th nationally.
- After going a perfect 26-26 on clears last Saturday, the Black and Gold are now 13th in the nation in clearing percentage (0.885).
- Bryant is sixth in the nation in caused turnovers per game (10.80)
- The Bulldogs are 15th in the NCAA in scoring defense; allowing 9.20 goals per game. Bryant has allowed 10 goals or fewer in seven of its 10 games this season.
SCOUTING THE BISON
- The Bison enter Saturday with a 2-4 record in Patriot League play and are 5-6 overall. They last beat Le Moyne University out in Syracuse by a final score of 12-7 on Tuesday, Apr. 8.
- Michael Meyer leads Bucknell in scoring through 11 games so far this season. He has tallied 53 points (22g, 31a) while also producing 23 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
- Connor Davis leads the Bison with 34 goals this year and has also posted 10 assists.
- The Bison have platooned four different players at the face-off X this season. Colin McLoy has taken the majority of draws, winning 77-of-165 face-offs while also collecting 37 ground balls.
- Bradon Edwards and Ben Concepcion are in the second tier of Bucknell face-off specialists. Edwards has won 31-of-67 draws with seven ground balls, and Concepcion has gone 28-of-49 while scooping 11 GB's.
- Steven Pepe rounds out the face-off room. He has gone 14-of-32 at the faceoff X and has five ground balls on the year.
- The Bison have also seen two different starting goaltenders this season. Luke Renaud would begin the season as the team's starter in cage, playing in the team's opener against Merrimack on Feb. 1. He would start the following week at St. Bonaventure on Feb. 8 but Jaz Zanelli was in net in the team's Feb. 15 game against Dartmouth.
- Zanelli started the next four games for the Bison with Renaud appearing in relief in all but one of them.
- Renaud has started the last two games against Loyola and Le Moyne.
- Renaud has 76 saves and 17 ground balls on the year with an 11.28 GAA. Zanelli stopped 46 shots and has eight ground balls with a 14.45 GAA.
- The Bison are coached by Frank Fedorjaka, who is in his 20th season at the helm.
