2025 #AETF Championship Begins on Saturday

BOSTON - All nine #AETF schools will travel to the campus of New Hampshire this weekend for the 2025 America East Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The two-day event, beginning Saturday, May 3rd, will be streamed live on ESPN+.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW 

  • Last Year: The River Hawk were crowned America East Men's Outdoor Champions for the second consecutive year with a total of 167 points. On the women's side, UAlbany took home the trophy with 243 points for the 15th consecutive year and 17th all-time.  

  • Regional Rankings: On the men's side, UAlbany leads the America East in the Northeast region at No. 5, followed by UMass Lowell at No. 15, Binghamton at No. 16, New Hampshire at No. 18, and Maine at No. 25. In the Mid-Atlantic region, UMBC comes in at No. 15.
    On the women's side, UAlbany is ranked No. 5 in the Northeast, with Bryant at No. 21, New Hampshire at No. 23, and Binghamton at No. 25. UMBC is ranked No. 23 in the Mid-Atlantic.

 

WOMEN'S ATHLETES TO WATCH

Toni Galloway, UAlbany

  • Galloway is the defending 100m hurdles champion and will look to defend her title this weekend.
  • The junior hurdler clocked a 13.17 (wind: +2.8 m/s), putting her more than half a second ahead of the next competitor in the conference.
  • She currently ranks 24th in the NCAA

Alyssa Armitage, Binghamton
  • Armitage has won three straight #AETF indoor pole vault titles and looks to carry that success into this weekend as she aims for her first outdoor title.
  • The junior pole vault specialist has finished in the top three in nine out of ten of her meets since the beginning of the 2024–25 school year.
  • If she can grab the gold, it will mark her 12th collegiate victory.

Chloe Whiting, Bryant
  • Whiting leads the league in the 5,000m with her lifetime best of 15:51.97 from the Bryan Clay Invite.
  • The junior distance runner won both the 3,000m and 5,000m at the indoor championship, taking home the Most Outstanding Female Track Performer and Coaches' Awards after powering the Bulldogs to a second-place team finish. 

Jayani Santos, UMass Lowell
  • She was also named the America East Track and Field Performer of the Year in March.
  • Santos heads into the championship meet as the top seed in both the 200m (24.12) and 400m (55.18) for the second straight championship.
  • The sophomore sprinter captured her first conference title this past indoor season, running a lifetime best of 24.09 in the 200m. She will look to add to that haul this weekend.


Sarah Moore, New Hampshire

  • Moore is one of three freshmen leading the America East in their respective events, excelling in the long jump.
  • The rookie is the only jumper in the conference to surpass 20 feet, recording that mark in her last two outings. 
  • She holds a lifetime best of 6.30m (20' 8.5"), which ranks 34th in the NCAA.



MEN'S ATHLETES TO WATCH

Louis Gordon, UAlbany

  • Gordon, the defending America East long jump champion, is looking to go back-to-back, as he is the only person in the conference with a mark over 25-feet.
  • In 2023, the jump specialist claimed both the indoor and outdoor long jump titles before winning the 2024 indoor championship. He'll be aiming for his fourth straight #AETF championship.


Brian Luciano, Binghamton

  • Luciano, the two-time weight throw champion, leads the league in the hammer throw with a toss of 65.06m and is looking to upgrade his fourth-place finish last year to a gold medal.
  • Since the start of the indoor season, Luciano has won seven competitions and will look to make it eight this weekend.


Ryan Slaney, Bryant

  • Slaney is the only runner in the conference who has dipped under the 14-minute mark in the 5,000m this year with his 13:56.97 performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
  • At the 2025 Penn Relays, he anchored the Bulldogs' DMR with an official split of 4:04.89, the fastest 1600m leg in the College Division.
  • The junior distance runner has never finished worse than third in an America East Track & Field Championship and will be looking to earn his first individual conference victory.


Alpha Balde, UMBC

  • Balde heads into the conference championship as the top seed in both the 100m (10.20) and 200m (21.02).
  • The sophomore sprinter also runs key legs on the Retrievers' 4x400m relay (3:08.94), which leads the conference, and the 4x100m relay (39.73), which ranks second in the league.


James Kotowski, UMass Lowell

  • Kotowski, a javelin specialist, is fresh off taking home a championship wheel at the 2025 Penn Relays.
  • The senior thrower has the 10th-best mark in the country at 74.09m, but his personal best came last year when he placed fifth at the 2024 Olympic Trials with a toss of 75.69m.
