SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant women's tennis doubles team of
Natalia Vela and
Maria Jose Hernandez Diaz has been ranked No. 10 in the ITAs most recent recent New England rankings.
It marks the first time in DI program history that a Bryant doubles team has been ranked in the top 10. The Bulldogs' duo is ranked among teams from the Ivy League, ACC, Patriot League and Big East.
Vela and Hernandez Diaz didn't become doubles partners until Bryant's spring break trip in March. They proceeded to go 9-0 as a doubles team, including wins over UMass and Rhode Island in the regular season. In the postseason, the duo dominated in leading the Black and Gold to the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Championship. Vela and Diaz won all three of their doubles matches in the OVC tournament to set the tone and were tied 3-3 against Duke's 20th-ranked doubles team in the NCAA Tournament.Â
