BULLDOGS LOSE, 3-2, HEARTBREAKER TO COLGATE SUNDAY IN FINAL DAY OF FLORIDA GULF COAST TOURNAMENT

Boxscore

FORT MYERS, FLA. - Colgate's Ashley Rowe hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to help the Raiders squeak by the Bulldogs, 3-2 in the final game of the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament. It was the second time Colgate (2-3) had beaten Bryant in just a three day span, as they won an, 8-7, extra inning battle on Friday.

Freshman Lindsay Martin (Methuen, Mass.) put Bryant in front early, stroking an RBI single that scored Kate Thomas (Bedford, N.H.), putting the Bulldogs up 1-0 in the second inning. Martin was 2-for-3 on the day.

Stephanie Hartquist knotted the game at one apiece in the bottom of the third for the Raiders, reaching on an infield single that scored Jennifer Ortega. It was the first of two hits for Hartquist, contributing to the five total hits for the team.

Bryant (1-9) reclaimed its advantage in the top of the fifth, as senior captain Anne Dobmeier (Buffalo, N.Y.) hit a two-out single up the middle that plated Ali Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) to put the Bulldogs back on top by a score of 2-1.

After pinch-runner Brittany Hanrahan was sacrificed to second with nobody out in the sixth inning, Meg Mylan laced a single to center field to score Hanrahan from second, tying the game at 2-2.

The Bulldogs would not threaten in the top of the seventh, going down in one-two-three order. Raider freshman pitcher Michelle Hollebeke collected her first collegiate win, allowing four hits while striking out five and walking two. For the Bulldogs, sophomore pitcher Samantha Houseal (Mount Joy, Pa.) was also strong, surrendering just five hits and striking out two in a losing effort.

The Raiders did their damage with two outs in the seventh, as Ortega drove a double to left center and scored the game-winning run on the Rowe single.

The Bulldogs will play in the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Florida over spring break starting next weekend.
