Box Score CORDER LEADS BRYANT WITH THREE RBIS IN 13-6 LOSS TO SAN DIEGO STATE THURSDAY
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team ran into another talented team at the San Diego Classic II, falling to host San Diego State, 13-6, Thursday night in the opening round.
Despite a late push by the Bulldogs and a huge game from junior Kendall Corder (Carmichael, Calif.) who went 2-for-4 with a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning. Classmate Lauren Guy (La Habra, Calif.) collected two hits and a trio of runs from the leadoff spot, while shortstop Aubrey Mable (Aurora, Colo.) went 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored.
After the Aztecs scored the first run of the contest in the bottom of the first, the Black and Gold responded in the bottom of the inning with a pair of RBIs from sophomore Madeline Velasquez (Los Angeles, Calif.) and junior Taylor Bell (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.). However SDSU scored 12 of the next 13 runs to open up a comfortable 12-3 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh.
The Bulldogs will continue play at the San Diego Classic II with a pair of games on Friday, first against Marist at 12 p.m. EST before a showdown with UT Arlington at 2:30 p.m.
